Mission & History

On the Money magazine is a by teens for teens publication and was founded in 2007. Our mission is to increase entrepreneurship education and the financial literacy and capability of teens through the development of peer-based educational resources, community outreach, and student-written publications. Each semester, high school interns from across the city of Chicago come together to research and publish articles relating to finance and entrepreneurship.

Over the years, On the Money has grown to reach over 18,000 youth throughout Chicagoland annually. While continuing to be distributed in print, the new interactive online platform aims to allow easy access to articles as we expand our educational outreach to a global scale.

Visit otmonline.org if you would like to read intern written articles or learn more about our fabulous interns!

The magazine also reaches an additional 40,000 youth through partner media outlets. On the Money is coordinated in partnership with the Office of the City Treasurer of Chicago, the Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Public Library and DePaul University.
